Bringing Art and mentorship to the children of Congo
ESIMBI’s new project in Kinshasa ESIMBI is bringing Art in Kinshasa with our annual cultural day set to kick off on 19th October 2016. The project which involves an art competition for students, orphans and street children in Congo, will take place after our creative workshops for final year students at the ISAM university in Kinshasa to boost entrepreneurship in the country in partnership with Congo Fashion Institute. ESIMBI (meaning “it works” in Lingala, the official language in Congo) is set to bring the work of 5 selected winners to London to showcase a different culture and their potential as artists at a private event in the West End. The project which will run for 4 years, will be great for building bridges for the Congolese community in Congo and the UK. ESIMBI will host several workshops in Congo set to be documented as part of the project. Our goal as a social enterprise is to provide opportunities for Congolese individuals in the UK and Congo in order to change the way the world sees Congolese culture through fashion and art. We are seeking partnership with individuals and organisations who would like to be involved in this project and we would love to hear from you.
